The News, Eats & Events Shaping Western New York |
Buffalo, New York is quickly gaining recognition as a culinary destination, showcasing a food scene that’s both diverse and vibrant.
The city celebrated the 42nd annual Taste of Buffalo in July 2025, featuring 40 local restaurants and food trucks alongside four wineries, drawing food lovers from across the region.
In October 2025, Hertel Avenue in North Buffalo saw the debut of six new bars and restaurants, energizing both nightlife and dining and generating an estimated $5 million boost for local businesses by year’s end.
Buffalo’s culinary growth is also reflected in the recent reopening of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, now home to a new eatery and a coffee-and-wine bar, creating a hub where art and cuisine meet.
Together, these milestones mark Buffalo’s transformation into a hotspot for food enthusiasts seeking variety and quality. Read More... |
The newly restored Delaware, Lackawanna and Western (DL&W) Terminal has opened, ushering in a fresh chapter for Buffalo’s waterfront revitalization.
Situated behind the KeyBank Center on South Park Avenue, the modern terminal now acts as a key transit hub — linking neighborhoods like Canalside and the Cobblestone District to the heart of downtown.
This project, in the making for over a decade and supported by state and federal funds, drew praise from Governor Kathy Hochul, who spotlighted its role in Buffalo’s comeback.
With the opening of the DL&W Metro Rail Station, the NFTA’s light rail line extends for the first time since 1985, improving access to Buffalo’s major attractions.
Looking ahead, the terminal’s second floor will become a lively hub for markets, dining, and entertainment — with construction set to begin in 2025. Read More... |
Catholic Charities of Buffalo has kicked off its annual Santa’s Workshop to help children across Western New York unwrap special holiday memories this Christmas.
The program collects new, unwrapped toys, books, puzzles, and stocking stuffers for infants through teens.
Julie Lulek, senior director at Catholic Charities, noted that this season’s economic strain may drive increased need.
Donations are especially needed for youth ages 10 and up — including hoodies, cologne sets, sports balls, blankets, and self-care items.
Gifts can be dropped off at several Buffalo-area locations, including the Montante Administration Center, Forno Napoli, Resurgence Brewing, and two Urban Valet Dry Cleaners.
Families not yet receiving assistance can register at 525 Washington St. through December 10 with proper identification.
The Ladies of Charity are also seeking donations to support 500 families in need across the region. Read More... |
